Hi! I am Meg Ryan owner of Second Chance Pet Sitting. I grew up in Addison in a large family with lots of pets. I went to Driscoll Catholic High School and then got a Business degree from Elmhurst College.

I first starting riding horses when I was 9 years old. When I turned 16 I became a working student at North Wayne Stables in Wayne IL. At North Wayne I learned how to take care of the horses and the farm. My love of Dressage also developed during this time. At 18 I started teaching lessons at Deer Grove Horse Center in Palatine and within a year I was managing the farm. It was an amazing time. I took care of 40 horses and got to teach riding lessons all day long. The barn eventually closed when the owner sold the property for development. I went back to college, got a degree in business, and got a job working at Hewitt Associates in Lincolnshire. After 22 great years at Hewitt I have decided to get out of the cube and get back to my roots. Dog walking, vacation care, and farm sitting.

I moved to Volo in 2006 and made some great friends (2 legged and 4 legged). I started caring for my neighbors dog Aspen when they went away on long weekends or vacations. It was with Aspen that my love of pet sitting and dog walking started. As the years went by more dogs and cats got added to the list. Just recently I adopted Ninja a 5-year-old black cat known for being sneaky. He can open drawers and cabinets. I also have started fostering kittens and cats. I am currently fostering two kittens Nugget and Needle. If I don’t let them go I will officially become a Foster Fail 🙂

I picked the name Second Chance Pet Sitting to honor of all the pets that get a second chance at a forever home. As your dog walker and pet sitter, you can count on Second Chance Pet Sitting to take care of your pets during your time away. As your farm sitter, you can count on us to take care of the horses or whatever animal you have in your barn.

Meg Ryan’s life is animals. I first met Meg where I boarded my horse many years ago. She really knows her stuff and is an accomplished dressage rider. Meg has pet sit for me on many occasions taking care of my cats and dogs over the years. I completely trust her within my home and with the care of my pets. I highly recommend Meg as your pet sitter as she has given her life to our precious animals. She now has become an in-home foster which I know will fill her up with joy.

I have known Meg for over 10 years now and we couldn’t be happier with the care and love she provides for our “Charlie Dog”. Whenever I say her name, he’s running for the door, wanting to go over to her house or hoping she’s at ours. We now call her “Auntie Meg”. Meg has become a part of our family. Charlie loves to visit her because he gets to go for walks in forest preserves, and around the neighborhood, and he’s even made some new friends too (4 legged and 2 legged ones).
